Hey! I’m Nikki, certified fitness trainer, personal coach and a sponsored trainer with 1st Phorm. I found a passion for nutrition, health and fitness amongst the chaos of raising 2 kids on a farm and working a full time job. Something about it all just clicked for me. I loved the way I could control my body, how it looked, how I felt and each bit of progress I made was my decision. The best feeling now, is when I get to help someone new accomplish a goal of theirs. I coach people to get out of their own damn way in order to allow themselves the opportunity to succeed. I have walked in your shoes and have felt the way you feel. I have lacked confidence. I have hidden from the mirror. I have avoided dates with my own husband. I have found a way to health and confidence I never knew existed and want nothing more than to help as many people feel the same way I do now about themselves too.

This Topic is really helpful not only just for you but if you do happen to have young athletes in your home this is going to be very effective for them as well. A lot of adults don't look at themselves as an athlete and just look at themselves as a normal person just trying to get some movement in. If you are completing some sort of program, if you have a specific goal that you are after and you are consistent with your training, you are an athlete! In this episode I talk about learning how to eat properly at different times through out the day to get the most out of your workouts and also to help you recover better.

Stop Starting Over

In this episode I talk about the whole issue with people always wanting to start over on goals. They feel like they always need a fresh start, a new month, a new Monday and then they fail again instead of just continuing on forward.  Staying committed to your health and fitness goals is going to be something that is a mindset shift and that is something I used to struggle with. I am going to talk about a couple things that I have done that have helped me to change my mindset surrounding goals so that I don't feel like I failed when I have a day that's not perfect because we're not looking for perfect, we are looking for consistent!

The Past Doesn't Define You

I grew up not in the fitness industry, not really being overly healthy. I went through a lot of body image issues growing up. I think a lot of people forget about that or if they are new to me they don't realize that i haven't always been who I am now. We all have a past, we all have things we have done embarrassing moments, bad nick names, things that you feel like define who we are supposed to be and make us feel stuck. I felt like that for a long time and in this episode I touch on some things from my past and how I overcame them and how it has helped me become who I am today.

I thoroughly believe that tracking, at least for a while, is incredibly helpful and necessary to learn what foods are made of as well as serving sizes!! For example, I'll never forget the times where I learned what an actual serving size of peanut butter actually was (yikes on that one) or how quickly certain foods added up in carbs and fats (girl scout cookies, milkshakes, pizza, alcohol)! I find that tracking is the eye opening experience the majority of people need to have for a period of time to learn how to be honest about what they are choosing to take in and maybe learn what some better options are to help keep it all balanced! My personal goal for everyone is to learn how to track so they can learn how to live without tracking!

I let it determine my mood, how I treated other people, how hard I was going to work out, I let it determine so much about myself and it's so wrong. Today's episode is all about how to use the scale to your advantage and realizing it is just one set of data.

How much data is too much data? Today I am talking about something that I can get caught up in really easily. For those of you that are like me, that are more type A, like to compare different data points and such, this is going to be a great episode for you because it's something that can definitely get the best side of you and it doesn't need to. There are a ton of different options out there for wearables to track your sleep, steps and workouts and it all gives you a variety of data points. In this episode I am touching on all of the positive and negative ways certain wearables have affected me and why I have recently decided to stop tracking some of this data.

Today I am talking with my 10 year old daughter, Shae. We have a really special relationship and I think it's pretty awesome the things that we are able to talk about, the things that she is willing to ask me and the things that we do in order to make it more comfortable to understand life and understand our bodies. We go over some of the things that we do, some of the things we talk about and a little bit of an insight about how we run our relationship to make sure that we keep everything out in the open and on the same page to hopefully set up a good foundation as she gets older.
